Hi Guys, sorry for lack of replies. "All work and no play make Homer something, something..." Anyway, yes there was oil in the CCV hose. So I cleaned the hose and then I used some advice from the other smog fail post. ;-) I looked all over the exhaust as best as I could. I discovered that the air filter element on my K&N had mostly rotted away so replaced that. Today I drove it for a good forty minutes beforehand and I still failed. Tomorrow I'll drop my skidplate and see if I have any hidden exhaust leaks. The test guy thinks I need to get a carbon cleaning. Do fuel additive carbon cleaners ruin the cat?

If you have oil in the CCV hose cleaning will not help. You need to correct the problem. A quick test is to put a clear plastic fuel filter in the CCV hose and see if it gets oil in it when running. The valve cover is most likely the problem.
If your test guy suggested a carbon cleaning by all means do it. There will be something on the instructions that Will keep you from damaging a converter. You might need a new one any way.
I can say with full confidants that the MPI kit installed correctly will pass any CARB codes today.

Finally! OK, here's how you find a pin hole leak in your exhaust. Soak a cold pipe with a solution of simple green and keep the spray bottle close by. Get out your mechanics mirror, the little one that bends around things. Drop your skid plate (no matter how big a pain in the ass) Starting at the manifold cause it gets hot first, go over every inch of tail pipe until you find the simple green making bubbles at the hole. Mine was rubbing on my skid plate. I go to the DMV on Monday for my sticker. Woo Hoo!

You can do even simpler without dropping the skid plate.
With engine running at idle close off the tail pipe withe a wet rag (water not fuel). You will hear a leak hissing, then you can have someone hold the rag while you look for the leak. Then you can drop the skid plate!

I have found that a long hard pull just before you go makes the cat work best.
Good Luck!!!!

I did get my sticker. And I just returned from 4 days of wheeling through the Sierra's on the Dusy Ershim trail. I had to pile a few rocks and I busted the right front u-joint (easily replaced) and I managed to catch one trout. It is one intense trail! It was my second trip. Put it on your bucket list! Thanks for all the help and my engine is just awesome with your kit.
